IN OUR BLOOD
Sports, wellbeing, culture and play has always been intertwined with Māori culture. Sports is not just something that we do for fun and fitness, it is within us...
...it always has been.
Te Rūnanga Ā Iwi O Ngāpuhi is the tribal authority representing the interests, dreams and aspirations of Ngāpuhi, the largest Iwi in Aotearoa. Our role is to create a Centre of Excellence by having a presence, being relevant and influential in the cultural, social, environmental and economic advancement of our people. We reach out across Te Whare Tapu o Ngāpuhi (the sacred house of Ngāpuhi), strengthened by more than 100 hapū and marae.
We have been passed the mantle of hosting this years Tai Tokerau Māori Sports Awards, in Waitangi.
We are excited to include this auspicious event in our calendar and are making preparations to celebrate our sports people’s achievements like the TOA they are!
Our theme for the evening will be “Te Whare Tapu o Ngāpuhi” where we welcome all the people of Taitokerau and Aotearoa into our whare, both physically and digitally, to celebrate individual and team excellence.
